OMG, this is amazing!
Two weeks ago I took out a bunch of Legos to show my students how to build all kinds of sentences, that AREN'T in the software, just by adding some blocks or changing a bit of the order.
eg
What >>do you>>want to be
>>do you>> want to be>> a pilot?
Why>> do you >>want to be>> a pilot?
>>do you>> want to be>> a>>famous>> pilot?
etc.
For HW I am having them run through the software now to be able to ask me as many questions as possible and we make a "battle" between the kids every week.
Now, today's winner was a girl whose computer is broken since 2 weeks. She asked me not only many but amazing questions.
I was confused and asked her why she could do this, without having worked with her computer:
I borrowed my bother's legos and I gave every lego a word (she didn't even write the words on the blocks). Then I played with them and moved them around like little dolls, talking to myself.
When I told the mom how surprised I was, she also laughed saying "Oh that's why you played with the Lego all the time"
Very very impressive!
