Vacation in Okinawa

I thought to make a little clip with an English text for my students as a listening exercise.

I hate to "waste" lesson time, talking about myself.

So, here is my 4+ minute video of our trip.

Wow Margit- I was sitting at my work table (on a Sunday afternoon - but by choice, I love what I do!) and for 4 minutes I was transported into another world! This is not the Japan I know - I went to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka only. The island costume- kimono- is SO colourful and also SO reminiscent of the colours of the island itself !Maybe you could present your "fellow travellers "- in the beginning of the film: " my son", "my husband" etc. Some more vocabulary 😉But it's only a suggestion - and your students might already know them! My own students are eagerly waiting for a video letter from yours - 😉I told them that there was a school vacation in Japanand most of all I don't want to put any pressure on you ( which seems to be exactly what I'm doing!😁😜As well as putting way too many smiley icons !) Ease in nicely after your vacation !

Hi Dacha,

thanks a lot for watching and commenting.

I was rather careful and not really comfortable with the video yet, as family vacation is something very private and personal.
However I also realized it would be really interesting and good exercise for my adult students. Also having something like this might be interesting for teachers around the world~I just feel that our names are not really necessary here.
If I do something similar for my teens, I will remember your suggestion and add some more vocab.

As for the video~I REALLY need to sort things. Right now my head is mixed up and I don't remember which group is exchanging with which country!

I have first class this week, and I cannot promise that I can take a video right away, but I try very hard to get things done within the next two weeks.

Hi Margit,
I know what you mean- I just made a list myself hoping for some clarity! Now it's all neat and coloured with arrows all over the place to see which group has an exchange with which one !
As to your family vacation video I totally agree that a family vacation is a private story. And by the way - in my opinion, you've balanced "private" and " public" remarkably well. I wasn't so much thinking about the names of family members ( they aren't really needed!) more about their position in the family: à son, a husband, etc ....
Our vacation starts Saturday for 2 weeks! In France they get a 2 weeks vacation every 6 weeks and two months in the summer ! It's hard to keep up sometimes !;)

I like you ideas with the positions for vocab.

Good to know your vacation schedule. I was trying to push the new video in today's lesson, but we just got as far as rewatching all the other ones and thinking of what to answer.
So, I think we will be shooting next Thursday, so you will have our new one when your kids are back from vacation.

having a 2 weeks break all 1,5 months is pure luxury, sounds soooooo good~but hard in our business to cope, I guess.
