New Years Break out. Put a number of dolls into a box (and decide for their names). Tell kids that they will have to find their New Years Gift (which is in the black box closed with a number lock ), and that the doll called Gira will help them find it. Now, Play the song 'Mystery box' by #Supersimple and take out one doll at a time. The dolls are hand puppets and can speak only English, they say all kinds of funny stuff and make the kids laugh. They chat with the kids, ask them for names and other small talk. They are silly, like puppets should be. (>>the kids have to get the idea of asking each doll for their names, don't tell them to do this, just hint.) They find the doll, Gira, finally! (The 4th time or so) Then she asks each kid ‚How old are you“ And after answering, the kids need to get the idea that they should ask Gira back at some point. Gira is 5. Now, The number (5) is the hint for the next clue They check under the '5' on the whiteboard Giraにお天気たずねるis written there. (In Japanese, it says: Ask Aira for the weather) So they ask Gira: What's the weather like? She answers. Kids have to check under that weather card. ギラにできることを聞く (Meaning: Find out what Aira can do) So, the kids ask: "Can you jump…?" etc There are superhero cards on the board, and they ask the actions and receive Yes, No answers. The numbers for the key lock are hidden under the YES answers. So, now the kids can open the lock!!! You may use this idea, and share it, but please tag me, if you do so, and mention where you got it from. Also check out and tag #breakoutedu; a very valuable site, especially for native speakers. 0 Comments LEAVE A REPLY.
